Back to School Martial Arts Training

Back to School is a great time to start training in martial arts.

With summer coming to a close and school starting again, it is a great time to add martial arts training into your schedule.  At Arrowhead Martial Arts and Fitness, we offer family classes so everyone can train together.  Martial Arts are a great way to get into shape and stay in shape over the (at least in the Northeast) long and cold winters.

Every school year brings new challenges including learning to fit in to a new classroom perhaps with new kids especially if your child has changed schools.  This can bring a whole host of issues including bullying and issues with self-esteem.  Martial Arts programs can help if they are structured appropriately.  A good program teaches not only the basics of the art, but how to deal with bullying and learning to defend against physical confrontations.

Tae Kwon Do is based upon tenants or rules that we use not only while on the training floor but in our daily lives.  These tenants are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control, and Indomitable spirit.  A program that is built around these tenants will provide support for life's challenges.  It will help build self-esteem and foster independence for the child or adult alike.

An additional benefit is that a martial arts training program will also help with fitness.  You can spend time with your family while you learn and get in shape.  The other benefit is that you are learning something new, and research has shown that this is a great way to help with age related memory issues (yes we all have to face it sometime).

So as you are getting yourself and your family settled into a rountine this school year, check out your local Martial Arts program to see what they have to offer.  It will be worth it.

Thanks for your post. I’ve been thinking about writing a very comparable post over the last couple of weeks, I’ll probably keep it short and sweet and link to this instead if that’s cool. Thanks
